Beckom is nestled on the banks of the picturesque Mirrool Creek and is a community based around mixed farming enterprises. The town's features include the historic hall, federation style hotel, historic homes in the town, a vintage agricultural machinery display, small rural school and the community park, barbeque and playground area.
Beckom won two categories of the 2006 Tidy Towns Awards:
- Civic Partnership and
- Friendliest Town.
